Englewood, Colorado. On Friday, the team announced that Tony Jones, who had begun dealing with two of the Denver Broncos Championship teams, had passed away. He was 54 years old.

Jones, who started the right tackle in the Broncos win in Super Bowl XXXII and started off the left tackle when the team won the Super Bowl XXXIII the following year, played 13 seasons in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Broncos after entering. League as an unapproved rookie in 1988.

Known as „T-Bone” to his Broncos teammates, he spent the last four years of his career with Broncos, retiring after starting 16 matches in the 2000 season at the age of 34.

„We have lost a great man,” his former colleague Rod Smith wrote on Twitter. „It happens to be a hell ball game. We love you and we miss you Bone. One of the best tackle Broncos ever. Greatest hairstyle ever!”

Ed McCaffrey, another former Broncos teammate, described Jones as „a great teammate and a wonderful man,” and Hall of Famer Steve Atwater, who also played for those two teams at the Super Bowl, said Jones was a „great teammate” with „the most beautiful kids.”

On Friday night, Atwater said that many of the players in these Bronco teams continued to maintain contact with each other and that „everyone is hurting at this.”

Believing that the Broncos were on the verge of recovering from a play-off loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars to end the 1996 season, they exchanged the second round with the Ravens in 1997 for Jones.

In Super Bowl XXXII, on correct handling, Hall of Famer held Reggie White bagless and for one tackle overall as Broncos darted 179 yards and Hall of Famer Terrell Davis was named MVP in the game.

After Gary Zimmerman, who is also a Hall of Famer, retired prior to the 1998 season, Jones switched to the left tackle and started every match on his way to the Pro Bowl selection as Broncos went on to win their second successive title.

Jones was selected in the 2019 Top 100 Bronco Teams list.

In a social media post, former Bengals dealt with Willie Anderson and described Jones as „a great father, friend, attacker, coach, coach.”
